Tamaris is the founding attorney at Henagan & Associates, PLLC who focuses her practice on family law, criminal defense, and compliance matters.
Tamaris Henagan is an Adrian, MI native. She obtained her B.S. in Business Administration and Management from Ohio Dominican University, followed by her Juris Doctor, with a concentration in Criminal Law, from the University of Toledo College of Law. In 2017, Ms. Henagan had the honor of becoming the first African- American attorney in the history of the City of Adrian. She is the co-creator of Integrity Law Suites, a boutique firm for attorneys who pride themselves in integrity and ethical standards, and the founder of Henagan & Associates, PLLC. where she specializes in regulatory and compliance law for the cannabis industry, criminal, family law, and business consultation.
Ms. Henagan believes in taking advantage of opportunities when they present themselves, and as such she has worked as in intern with the late Judge James Sheridan in 2013, served this community as in intern in the Lenawee County Prosecutor’s Office in 2015/16 and spent three (3) years as the City Attorney of Adrian, Michigan. She is a graduate of the Michigan Municipal League 16/50 Project; a program that seeks to remove barriers and provide training to increase the number of women in leadership roles in local government. Ms. Henagan is also a certified and experienced mediator, trained by the Ohio Supreme Court and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel, to recognize the merger of legal framework with excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
In addition to her law practice, Ms. Henagan has served as the Administrative Director of U1st Transitional Living Program, servicing women in recovery from opiod addiction, Chair of the City of Adrian Human Relations Commission, and legal counsel and legal redress chair of the Lenawee County NAACP. Ms. Henagan currently serves her community diligently as a trustee of the Adrian Public Schools Board of Education. She is also a member of the Toldeo Charter of Zonta International, Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity and Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity.
